As a result of digitizing a number of Tactical
Aerodrome Directories, it seemed like creating a database of all
the airfields would be a logical next step. This has been
done and I am testing the result here. There are two ways in
which you can view this data. You can see the data as
placemarks in Google Earth or you can simply search the database
for a name. Many of the fields had more than one name, but
all the known "official" names that appeared in the Tactical
Aerodrome Directories from 1967 to 1973 are included.
If you wish to use Google Earth to display the data, use this
file:
South_Vietnam_Airfields.kmz
If you have Google Earth installed, that link will simply
start it up and whisk you off to South Vietnam. You may
want to save the file to your local machine and you can do that
by right-clicking on the link and selecting "Save Target As...".
Google Earth is free and it can be downloaded from Google at
