Lieutenant Colonel CLARENCE JOHN BEARDSLEY

Clarence John (Joe) Beardsley, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at his home in Melbourne, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sylvia Bedeian Beardsley; and sister, Delores Beardsley Timmerman of Colona. He was the loving father and grandfather of daughters, Marta Droddy of Frederick, MD and Jodi Boersig of Mt. Airy, MD; grandchildren, Daniel Droddy and his wife Melissa, Sarah Boersig, Meghan Boersig, and Hayley Boersig; and great-grandson, Peyton Droddy. He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence (Pete) Beardsley and Margaret Rombout Beardsley Yahnke. After graduating from United Township High School, he earned a Bachelors Degree in engineering from Bradley University. Later, he was awarded a Masters Degree in engineering from the University of Illinois. During his 22 years in the U.S. Air Force (including the 459th TAS in 1966-1967), he earned Silver and Bronze Stars, as well as a Purple Heart. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked as an engineer for ACF Industries and Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. He will be entombed with full Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery on August 13, 2010.
