Technical Sergeant James P. Butler

James Patrick Butler, age 81, passed away on December 17, 2015. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for over 30 years. He was the caretaker of the south slope of the Pikes Peak watershed.  Jim was born on February 6, 1934 to William Ernest Butler and Mary Elsie Kay in Greenville, South Carolina. On January 8, 1955, he married Phyllis Knull in Colorado Springs.  Jim was fond of refurbishing old telephones.  He also enjoyed military history, and had an appreciation of the outdoors. He served in the United States Air Force, the United States Army Reserve and the United States National Guard for a total of 20 years [459th, 1966]. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis Butler; his children: Joyce Bennett and Sheryl Wilson; his siblings: Jan McClain and J Harold Butler and his grandchildren: Jessica Bennett and Jeannie Bennett. A memorial service was be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910.The family requests that memorial donations be made in honor of James Butler to: Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906.
