Master Sergeant Allan E. Gustafson

Allan E. “Gus” Gustafson, 63, of Palatka, died Friday, May 12, 2006, at Kindred Hospital North Florida in Green Cove Springs following a brief illness.

He was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and been a resident of Palatka for the past 25 years, coming from Langley Air Force Base, Va. He retired in 1981 as a master sergeant with the United States Air Force after 21 years of service and was a veteran of the Vietnam War with the 458th Tactical Airlift Squadron. He was a member of VFW Post No. 3349 in Palatka and the C-7A Caribou Association. He enjoyed going to Kay Larkin Airport to watch the airplanes, skydivers and the model airplanes. He loved spending time with his grandsons.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Tina Gustafson of Palatka; one son, Michael Gustafson and his fiance, Raegan Ivers, of Astatula; one daughter, Kirstin Pacetti and her fiance, Kenny Willis, of St. Augustine; two sisters, Karen Bell of Jacksonville and Linda Pantier of Phoenix, Ariz., and two grandsons, Dylan Pacetti and Cheyne Pacetti.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, at the Masters Funeral Home of Palatka. Capt. Trent Davis officiated. The U.S. Air Force rendered full military honors.
