Captain Christopher L. Kearns

Captain Christopher L. Kearns

On January 6, 2006, seven months from the initial diagnosis, Chris Kearns, the Chief Pilot for the Broe Companies, lost his fight against Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 58. He was at home with his wife and family, where he so wanted to be. A consummate aviator, having been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service in Viet Nam, Chris operated the flight department with skill and admiration. Chris always smiled and truly cared about others, even while in constant pain and enduring the chemotherapies that racked his body almost as much as the cancer itself. It was Chris' wish, in lieu of a memorial service, that his friends just get together, have a hearty laugh and tilt a glass for him. In lieu of flowers, donations to the following organization can be made in Chris' name: PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network), 2141 Rosecrans Ave, Suite 7000, El Segundo, CA 90245, 877-272-6226, www.pancan.org/Donate/index.aspl. Chris is survived by his wife, Susan; sons Kenneth and Michael; brothers Clifford and Robert; his mother, Gladys, five nieces, a nephew, and 2 grandchildren. He is loved and desperately missed.
