Chief Master Sergeant Dale Joseph Spence

CMSgt. Dale Joseph Spence, 78, joined his family in heaven October 30, 2014. He was born to Lee and Annie Spence in Bunkie, Louisiana on January 24, 1936. He enlisted in the US Air Force in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1954. During his assignment at Whiteman AFB, Missouri, he met his future bride. Married in 1958, the family raised four children during his 30-year career.
His tour in Vietnam in 1971 was at the 483rd Tactical Airlift Wing, Cam Ranh Bay Air Base. One of his duties was as the senior enlisted advisor to the wing commander.
His second career included many years with Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union. He devoted many weekends, along with friends, as a member of the grounds crew at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Dale is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eula Mae; son Steven (Mary); daughters Stephanie Metting (Kimeth), Stacey, and Sonya Tate (Jeffrey); sister Linda Mouille (James); grandchildren Christopher (Vanessa), Andrew (Xin), Michael, Joshua, Sara (Joe), Phillip, Allen and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren Andres, Madeleine and Charlotte; numerous nieces and nephews. We love you, Dad!
An avid joke teller, he enjoyed sharing stories and tales with family and friends. His goal was to put a smile on your face and brighten your day!
The family wishes to thank the staff at SAMMC and Good Shepherd Hospice for their loving care.
The Funeral Mass was held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Interment followed at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
