Chief Master Sergeant William A. Zippel

William Alonzo "Bill" Zippel, 89, of Jacksonville, Florida died peacefully at his lake cabin, near Akeley, MInnesota Saturday, September 3,2011.  Bill was born on August 21, 1922, at Warroad, Minnesota, the son of William Frank and Ethel Christine (Toombs) Zippel.  After retiring from the U.S. Air Force as a Flight Engineer [459th, 1967], he managed Tianna Country Club in Walker, Minnesota.

Bill is survived by 4 daughters, Pam (Sam) Helland of Comelius, NC, Melissa Zippel of Jacksonville, FL, Patricia (John) Petrich of Gainesville, FL and Billie (Mark Lee) Zippel of Blaine, MN; 6 grandchildren, Alexis (Chris) McCoy, Ryan (Jenni) Helland, Nicole (Eddie) Faulkner, Jeff (Matt Berger) Petrich, Jessica (Jason) Fu and Aaron (Diane) Lee; 7 great-grandchildren, Lena Faulkner, Hadleigh Faulkner, Alonzo McCoy, Logan Fu, Tyler Fu, Taylor Helland and Addison Helland; as well as other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Maye Zippel.

Bill requested that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society instead of flowers.
